Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer (c. 1343 - 25 October 1400) was an English writer, poet, philosopher, bureaucrat, royal adviser and diplomat. He has written many books. However, he is best remembered for his unfinished narrative, The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer has been described by some as the "father of English literature." He was the first English writer to write artistic literature in contemporary English, not in French or Latin, but in contemporary English. He was the first author to be buried at Westminster Abbey.
